Every poker book will tell you not to play at all or play only against weak players when you’re not at your best. Sadly, the reality is different; for many busy Canadian players trying to make a living in a tough economy, the only chance to play poker is at night for an hour or two on account of work and other commitments during the day. In other words, reality speaks for itself and doesn’t serve us well enough to play poker in some occasions.
As far as poker advice is concerned, it’s preferable to avoid short hand like the plague, especially when you are under the influence of alcohol or fatigue; you are more involved as a result of that and under more pressure. In any case, it doesn’t matter in which of the games you bet, when tired or sick you shouldn’t play — it affects your ability and causes you to make rash, unnecessary decisions that will end up costing you unnecessary money.
Life is too beautiful for you to ruin what you have. So think twice before playing in an international online poker tournament, for real money in a Las Vegas casino, or even just with friends when you hard-earned dollars are involved. Even if they’re your friends they can take advantage of you being drunk or confused and bluff you throughout the game without you even noticing. On the other hand, it’s important to also have fun, but properly and responsibly.
